	thornius 5 weeks ago permalink	I set up my camera on my front porch about 10 - 12 feet from my feeders. I provide plenty of food, try to hide myself somewhat, yet, still talk to the birds and animals as they come to feed. After a while they get used to me and seem to ACTIVELY pose for me, to give me the best shots. I also pre-focus my camera and have my camera and photography area at equal distance from my camera so I waste as little time as possible. Then you wait for the best shot and most interesting poses. The rest is just luck, timing, and instinct.
	seventiesgirl 5 weeks ago permalink	I totally agree with comment about the treatment of animals for food..the taste really depends on the meat is prepared..if it is done with care and respect.We only eat free range meat ..and if possible like to know where it comes from! I was a vegetarian for years and am just geting to grips with cooking meat..must try your mutton suggestion!!

	seventiesgirl 7 weeks ago permalink	The landscape must look pretty spectacular where you are.Here in Britain our snow only lasted over the holiday period...and managed to bring the country to a standstill!!!Warnings not to travel unless absolutely necessary... news features about people slipping on the ice and A&E departments unable to cope!!!!We are useless with only 6 inches of snow!!!!Panic buying of groceries!! I love it and wish we had more. Tho if we had it for as long as you maybe I'd change my mind!!
	thornius 7 weeks ago permalink	They are calling for a MASSIVE snowfall here in Nashville, TN, Thursday and Friday of this week. I grew up on Grandfather Mountain, NC, the second highest mountain east of the Rockies. The top of the mountain is 6,000 feet (2,000 meters) above sea level. Our cabin sits at about 4,000 feet above sea level. The climate is about the same as Central Canada. I've seen 9 feet (3 meters) of snow on the ground at one time up there.
	Carolyn 8 weeks ago permalink	I can't travel far, so my subjects are somewhat limited. That is why most of my photos are of the dogs and the sky. The neat thing about the sky is that it is always different each day. The Sea of Clouds was taken from my garage roof. My deck runs just under the guttering in the back, so I don't have to climb a ladder. I did find a high spot on the west end of town and that is where I took my newest photos of sunsets. I would love to be able to go to the east coast and get some good photos of the ocean waves. I haven't been to Florida in 13 years. We used to go every summer when I was a child.
